Lights in the "Plusminus" lighting series customized by Stefan Diez for Vibia

German designer Stefan Diez and Spanish lighting company Vibia presented "Plusminus", an innovative and multifunctional lighting series, hoping to "liberate light from architecture." In 2018, when the project first started, Diez had the idea of creating "several light sources and a ribbon as a connector". After three years of extensive research and testing, this has been achieved, but to an extent that designers and brands cannot imagine.

"Plusminus" is a "possibility toolbox" that provides unlimited customizable lighting series for private and commercial customers. The connection force of the assembly is a cloth belt, which is essentially an electric belt, which can connect various lamps in one or more rooms. The adaptability of a band can allow, for example, pendants can be hung at different heights, lights can be attached to the band and hung on a long table around metal bars, or used as vertical space dividers, lights in a kind It seems to ignore the way of gravity.

The elegant and streamlined belt avoids messy cables and complicated installations that may require opening the wall. It is also one of the most challenging parts of the "Plusminus" project. Following the original idea of the ribbon, the designer and the Vibia technical team conducted detailed research, including looking for hand-woven samples made by textile designers, and reviewing the different patterns covering the wires and wires.

The result provides exciting new potential for lighting design. A band offers 30m connection possibilities, available in four colors: rust, gray, black and olive green. Luminaires-including six different models: spherical, hemispherical, cone, spotlight, linear diffuser and linear low UGR-can be easily removed and reconnected with simple anchors and accessories.
